Perceptions Journal With Pamela Maudy

Beauty is more than what we see—it’s how we feel, how we care for ourselves, and the quiet rituals that bring us back to balance. It’s in the way the sun kisses our skin after a slow European summer, the grounding effect of a morning walk, or the simple joy of using products made with integrity and purpose.

In this Foile Journal, we sit down with Pamela from Mira Curated—a creative whose world seamlessly blends food, design, and beauty. From her Parisian approach to effortless self-care to the skincare rituals she swears by, Pamela shares her reflections on beauty, balance, and the small details that make all the difference.

A thoughtful conversation on what it means to feel good in your skin—inside and out.

What was a moment that changed your perception of beauty?

I don't have a precise moment, but seeing a YSL exhibition in Paris as a child was a memorable event.

What is your number one beauty product?

Organic oils like jojoba! For cleansing and hydrating.

What skincare product or practice do you come back to if your skin is unbalanced?

I have an aloe vera gel that contains colloidal silver and find that this really does the trick to settle my skin if it’s not feeling quite right or is lightly blemished.

Who is a muse for you when it comes to beauty?

Penelope Cruz from all of the Almodovar films!

How does beauty feel to you?

When it comes to personal beauty, it feels ephemeral and sometimes complex. I’m convinced it all starts within and eating as best as possible and working on the mind are the basics.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Every day is a different one! I’ve opened my serviceable areas through MIRA to Sydney and Melbourne and often find myself transporting custom developed props on a plane, playing logistics and collaborating with new people.

What started as classic catering has become more of an art practice and the involvement is different. My days involve event coordination, marketing, cooking, drawing and designing and plenty of dreaming.

When I’m at home near Byron, I like to wake up early and start the day with a pilates reformer class or lighthouse walk, before anything else.

Dinner is a meal that I’ve always found more important than the others, often skipped or snacked on the run, and it’s important for me to meet my husband in the evenings and share this moment.

What is one grounding ritual that always brings you back to yourself?

When I have access to one, I have a bath. I also love to be social and drop by Tones, to reconnect with friends who work there and from there.

What is your current skincare routine?

I’ve recently switched to oil cleansing and am truly surprised by the results. It’s such a simple and pure method, using warm water and a cloth, leaving a layer of hydration behind.

The Foile Jojoba Face Oil is perfect for this and I use the gentle Milky Emulsion Cleanser when in need of a double-cleanse.

I often follow with a collagen serum from Terra Tonics, and like to hydrate with something light in texture, like aloe vera or the Daily Jelly Moisturiser

I alternate with vitamin C based products, too.

Share a moment that your skin felt it's most radiant, what do you feel contributed to this?

Anytime after a European summer, for example in Italy or the South of France- something I haven’t experienced of late! The sun is gentler and climate drier- something I feel contributes to golden yet unblemished skin.

How does your French heritage shape your approach to beauty and self-care?

Having been raised in a French household and spent ten years of my adult life in Paris, I feel I have adopted the Parisian view of beauty as being understated and naturally “perfect”.

Using quality products, well sourced ingredients with integrity and overall maintaining a well kept yet discreet approach to beauty and self-care.

Fashion is no exception! I like to choose beautiful, timeless pieces that can be woven into day to day life and styled for more formal occasions.
